Into The Light

This is from my last photo trip in 2013. About a week ago I went to Creux Du Van, called the swiss Grand Canyon. It's indeed a very spectacular landscape in the western part of switzerland in the Jura Mountains. The weather there is unpredictable....and so was on that moring. We expected clear blue skies.......and not really something spectacular. When we parked the car in the parking lot we had clear nights skies with stars.....so we snowshoed about a good hour to Creux Du Van but already after 30 minutes we found ourselves in thing fog.....we didn't see sunrise on that morning but about 15 minutes after sunrise the fog lifted and from that moment on we had almost the entire day perfect light. This was my first shot on that morning.

This is wonderful, Roland! The soft feeling of the trees and cliff are a great foil to the lovely warm to cold transition of the light. That touch of turquoise in the sky on the left is a neat addition. This would make a great poster shot with (or without) an inspirational quotation in the lower left.

Love the balance between warm/cool tones and the moody fog.

The combination of sharp outlines and soft atmosphere is engaging. Very nice.

I really like the diffused light from the fog as well as the strong warm/cool contrast. The backlighting on the tree is magical. Great work, Bill!!

The warm/cold contrast is exquisite here. And, the softness lent to the scene from the fog makes it gorgeous. :toast:

Unusual comp, with the empty left and busy right, but you've pulled it off well. I agree it would make an awesome poster with the quote on the left.
