Peace & Quiet?

I've seen this buck a number of times as his downward tine is pretty distinctive. I didn't notice until I got the image up on the screen that he has a fairly sizeable wound on his hind quarter. Looks like it's in the process of healing but I believe he'd like some time by himself to let the process work it's wonders. I'm always amazed at the ability of wildlife to heal these kind of things. This photo is a bit unusual for me in that I've got one here that has an interesting FG. BG is decent as well although the antlers get a little lost in the confusion back there. I tried to make them more evident with more contrast, sharpening, and minor tweaks to several sliders in Lightroom. Your comments and critiques are welcome. And lastly, have a HAPPY NEW YEAR.

The strong angles of the log, coupled with the buck against the contrasty light/brush background tend to take the eye away from him as the subject. I, too, was startled by the wound! Good documentary and I think he is healing fine to be a more than impressive subject in future years!
