This is during the clearing of a storm that just 'dumped' in Skull Valley, Utah.

Immediately after a snow storm is my favorite time to go out and shoot. I love all the pristine snow with no sign of man and the interesting textures and sculptures. There is usually a nice mix of sunlight, blue sky and clouds with some interesting lighting opportunities. This photo is a good example of all that and you captured the scene very nicely. Proper exposure is critical when shooting snow and this shot is right on the money. Very nice, Jeff!

What a wonderful variety of textures in this snow scene! I like your comp with the band of blue sky along the top, and the area of clear snow along the bottom. The clouds, especially the one in front of the mountains, add a special dimension. Very sharp looking image, but to me the middle of the image almost feels a bit "crunchy", as if it is oversharpened? A very beautiful and pristine snow scene, Jeff.

Would have liked to see a larger version so I could check out what Carolyn said, but she certainly has the better eye for these things. The departing clouds add a sense of drama to an already nice scene and yes, the exposure looks on the money, with good detail everywhere. Especially like the low foreground elements, leading to the trees in midframe, and up to the mountains.

Neat shot with the whites very well done and the touch of blue sky for icing on the cake. I like the repeated pattern of the snow covered sage with their shadows. Work sent me to Dugway repeatedly during the late 90's where I wished for time to explore Skull Valley, but couldn't get away.
