‘In Tall Grass’
Spent Friday on the Blue Ridge Parkway in sourthern Virginia and was the only one up there pretty much. The 60+ degree temps had melted most all the snow and ice. The wildlife was abundant from mid afternoon to sunset as I headed south. Camera HH, full frame.

A few too many branches in front of the deer's face for "me" Mike. I assume you were intending it as a moody interpretation of a deer in habitat. I just think there exists a tipping point where lovely framing and soft ambiance becomes, unfortunately, distraction. You are definitely onto something here though. A close call sometimes between a home run and a foul ball. Not saying I'm the umpire either, just a fan in the stands. I should add though, really like the rich, saturated colours and hints of dried grass and flowers. :toast:

I think the basic image you got is pretty good, Mike. If it were mine, I would try to clone out some of those distracting branches crossing her head. I have to deal with that all the time myself and it can be a pain. You got a good look from her and the comp is nice. I think I might try to lighten the darks around her head some, too. Overall the image is pretty dark so I might try to globally lighten this. That will cause some problems with the whites on her rump and throat but I think that could be fixed. I don't think it would take too long to do these things. That's just my take on it. Your mileage my vary and that's great.

You went for an effect, largely successful, but the screening foliage in varying levels of focus and in front of the face make for significant distraction. If she had poked her head through a bit of a hole it would have been stronger!
