For awhile, anyhow. Apparently, whatever this Red-tailed Hawk was interested in ambled away without presenting an opportunity, because the bird eventually became interested in other things.

7D, 300mm f4 ISL, beanbag on truck window, f8, 1/400, Av mode with no compensation (I boosted the exposure a full stop in post), iso500. Processed in CS6 and cropped to 10.9MP in 4x5 format. Taken December 16th at 11:45 am at Ridgefield NWR under still foggy skies.

Your comments are always appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

A tack sharp, well exposed, and well named image Dennis. :toast:

I like the "sense of place" F8 gave you. Very nice bird on a weathered post. Great details and a real nice pose. Sharon

Dennis you have certainly caught the conditions with this bird with it's fluffed up plumage, looks just great.

great bird, nice pose, and decent background. Too bad about the ugly perch but I'm sure you had no control of that!

I like this a lot as posted. I find it very moody with that pose and the winter light.
