Old #22

I finally found this buck (which I call #22 from a count of likely points) in the open so that I could get some photos without chaos in the BG. After I shot a number of images, I decided that right out in the open was kind of dull, so I moved to a position which I thought yielded a better image. Although he's in the open, I managed to place some vegetation to make it look like he was at the edge of some. I thought it was more interesting compositionally. I mostly made minor adjustments to exposure, contrast, highlights, etc. Nothing too major but enough to improve the photo relative to what I saw. Should have reduced the ISO as I had plenty of light at this time. Your comments and critiques are welcomed.

That is one nice buck. Nice capture. I would try a tighter crop if you have the pixels.

He is a dandy. Did he allow you to move around for other views?

Lon, One of the rules of the nature preserve is to stay on the trails. I follow the rules religiously and most others do as well. I think that's one of the reasons so many of the deer are approachable. So I had to stay on the linear trail and I found I could get this POV just by moving down the trail. Going the other direction wouldn't have worked. But in answer to your question, I think I could have gotten another angle off the trail as long as I didn't approach closer.
