I photographed this grizzly bear this past autumn. This is one of the larger grizzly bears I have seen in Glacier National Park. I especially like the lifted pay displaying the claws.

Tech info

Canon 7D with EF 500 mm f/4L
1/500th at f/5.6 and ISO 400
Tripod
Minor adjustments and cropping in Lightroom

This is a dandy Jack! The raised paw is nice and I also like the expression you captured, good detail on the eyes. The rocky environment is cool however I wonder if a bit more room to show the base of the large rock in the foreground might ground the image slightly better. I love grizzly photos, this is one of the best!

Looks like tough noon-ish light to deal with -
very nice image and pose from the grizz. Love that claw!
Darkening the whole thing a bit, and especially the bright areas of the BG, would further improve this.

Jack,

You certainly got a good pose here, like Sandy I wonder if it should be a little darker?

I really like the pose with uplifted paw and attention focused to the side. I think you can make it even stronger with a touch darker and maybe mid tone contrast added. Again, great moment.
