This is my rescued retired racing greyhound Kitty (racing name KittyHawk) who was a big winner in her 4 1/2 year long racing career. Although she is more happy playing couch potato, once in awhile she cannot resist showing off her moves in the dog park. In this instance, our other rescued dog, Sasha, the Labrador Retriever watches from the background as her sister shows off her form.

If you want to read a very cute article that appear in the local paper, check out the URL below. A reporter for the Tampa Bay Times saw Kitty and me and in that we both looked rather lean (I am a national champion bicycle racer) she thought she might have an interesting story. She interviewed me, but published the story from the perspective of the dog. Three pictures of us were included in the article. Here is the URL:

Yep, sure looks like she's enjoying herself. And she probably likes running when it her choice of time to take off and quit when she wants. I'll bet the other dogs in the dog park eat her dust. Bet she's a great companion. When I talk to others that have greyhounds, they all seem to really like them and , of course, being able to rescue them.

Looks like an amazing dog Sandy. Very cute article absolutely written from a dog's perspective. Made me smile for sure.

Peter, they are the most amazing, velcro companions and they love everything and everyone which amazes me considering that they basically lived in boxes for years. This girl must have been treated very well by her handlers. Interestingly, when I take her to the dog park she typically just lies around after doing a couple of laps around walking to investigate, and watches the other dog. One day there was this incredibly fast Whippet there that kept dashing around and running down all the other dogs that were running. My Kitty watched this for awhile and then one one of the Whippet's longer and faster runs, she suddenly leaped and overhauled that Whippet like it was standing still, nudged it on the neck (in mid run) as if to say, "You lose pal" :)

Eva, thanks I thought the article was very cute!

Great article about you and your dog, Sandy! I found it interesting because of its POV and also because of all the interesting things I learned about you too. Sounds like your and your dog are a great match with your physical stamina and energy levels. This picture of her in mid-air run is a fitting portrait of your fine dog. (I fixed the link so others can access it more easily.)

Carolyn, I was so pleased when I read the article when I saw the incredibly cute POV the reporter used. It was just too cute and really told her story with great humor and at the same time got in a plug for the rescue program she came through, Second Chance at Life where the dog transitions from life on the track to living with a prisoner for three months. I loved the part where she mentions something to the effect that the prisoner teaches the dog to come and the dog teaches the prisoner unconditional love! :)
