I was coming out of a restaurant one Sunday morning and noticed a pickup truck part on the perimeter of the parking lot. There was a dog in the front seat sitting up. His master left him apparently to go have breakfast and I saw a photo op and went to my car to retrieve my camera. Unfortunately, by the time I got back to the scene, the dog had all but disappeared, but nothing was going to get by him in that he kept one eye peeled for any intruders. As I thought about it, the dog gave me what I consider a better shot with the perspective of just one eye looking and the way the light played on his fur.

Shot at f5.6, 400mm, 1/640 ISO 640

Neat peekaboo shot, Sandy. Thankfully, the dog does not look stressed from heat or anything with the window(s) down apparently.

Thanks Paul, it was very early on a cool morning and had it been otherwise, as a dog lover, I would have followed the owner into the restaurant and objected!

Unique POV, Sandy. I like the view of just the one eye staring right at you and the lighting falling across his head. I guess he didn't know quite what to make of you and your camera looking at him, thus the cautious look.

Carolyn, I was hoping to get a shot of him sitting on the seat in that he looked so intense and cute! Then, I realized that I actually had a better shot with that single eye and the unique lighting. One of those lucky ones! As an aside, as I read the information on the website I am a bit unclear about one thing. At the end of the challenge, is there a "winner" and a 2nd and 3rd place - sort of like a mini competition - or is it just an exercise in fun? I ask only because I am a ridiculously competitive guy!

Oh and yes, even though I was a good distance from him taking the shot at 400mm, he didn't stop watching until I left!
