Sulfur-crested Cockatoo

Another from the Atherton Tablelands. Some of the folks up there consider these to be nuisance birds, but they're sure gorgeous. They gather in large roosts, much like crows do in the US and there were streams going over our B&B in the evenings. One day they were particularly thick and were in late evening light and looked lemon yellow against the sky-quite a sight-unfortunately I didn't get any images I really liked from that episode-this is from the following morning.

7D, 300mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, hand held, f7.1, 1/4000, Av mode with no compensation, iso 500. Processed in CS6 and cropped to 6.9MP at a 3x4 aspect ratio. Taken October 26th at 8:05 am at the Barking Owl B&B.

Comments and criticisms are much appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

The light filtering through the wings makes this shot for me Dennis, and the eye contact is terrific as well. Nicely captured!

A wonderful image. You handled the deep shadows and bright highlights quite well, a hard thing to do sometimes. :toast:
