Anhinga melanogaster. Australia's Anhinga.Gorgeously rich colored plumage, which I have hopefully captured. In this case, I wish I'd had a bit more elevation to get the reeds as bg through the full image. I do like the calling pose.

7D, 300mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, hand held, f10, 1/400, iso500, Av mode with no compensation. Processed in CS6 and cropped from the sides to a 3x4 ratio. Taken at Mareeba wetlands at 8:24 am on October 24th.

Your comments and criticisms are most appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Gorgeous, Dennis. Looks larger than the North American species. Excellent detail and very nice exposure on the back. If it were mine, I might clone out the brownish blob above the left wing.

Classic pose, yet a very nice image, Dennis.
I agree with the comments about the clone.

neat shot, Dennis. nice pose and great detail, and a really nice setting--love the grasses and water. brown blob is maybe not ideal but is not a big issue for me, especially in the larger version where there's so much detail to hold my attention.

Great light, color and detail. I really like the graceful pose and the color of those feathers. The brown rocks (??) don't bother me too much but I would crop out the white expanse of the sky down to just above the rocks. That would eliminate the white sky and still leave you plenty of room IMO. Whatever you do it's still a very nice capture. :toast:

Lovely detail in the feathers which you have captured beautifully.
Really like the spread out wings.
