Ice Friday

Very cold in much of the nation, today's been dubbed 'Ice Friday'.

This image was made in the spring of the year, and it demonstrates just how rapidly the temperatures can fall..
For example, it was near 80 here in Central Texas on Wednesday.
Today's high will hover around freezing.
F/22, 1/40th, ISO 200, Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM lens.

Keep that snow away. I'll be passing South of you about the 21st, headed for Tucson. This Southern boy don't need no snow or ice! Other than that, this is one cool picture!!

Howard: Don't know that I've ever seen bonnets with snow before! When and where did you find this? I think I would crop down to just above that big prickly pear patch to get rid of most of the open sky in the trees and then print it large. Nicely done.>=))>

Howard - Awesome scene - the blue bonnets look lovely in the snow. I like the composition as is but Bill's suggestion is also worth trying out.

Howard, you have captured superb natural and color contrast. I like your lower POV and excellent arrangement in vertical format. Well done.

Cool capture of this unique combination of elements, Howard, no pun intended. I particularly like the white/purple/green pattern in the foreground, so I"ll second Bill's crop suggestion.

Thanx y'all for your kind words.
Would love to crop as suggested, but this is a 4:5 crop from vertical. And with 10.1 to start with well.. The cactus & trees up top have a home
And Lucy, this was taken right here on our property:wavey:

Love the mix of seasons and how the white snow makes the bluebonnets pop out. Excellent work, Howard!
