Sounds like 'Apple Jacks' - Do they make that cereal anymore?
We had some warm weather yesterday, but below freezing temps the rest of this week. So I gave it another go with the Yellow-jackets, while I can. I used the 1.4 extension here, and tried to get in its face:eek:
F/11, 1/200th, ISO 800, 1D M3. Sigma 150mm f/2.8 with fill using manual focus.

As I was working with the wasps, they sometimes would fight each other.
They would fly about me occasionally, and got rather close a few times.
In one instance, two tumbled to the ground at my feet, in a 'wrestling' match that lasted about ten seconds.
Much too fast to shoot sharply in the available light, with my set-up.

Anyway, here's a high contrast/soft focused B&W rendition of two on an apple, 'facing-off'.

And here I was expecting a stacked image, Howard. The golden wash with hints of red really work well with the sharp face of this "beast". I'd say you definitely got in it's face. Glad they're attaching each other and not you.

You really got that one in its face. Good timing to: I like the partly open mandibles. As already mentioned, the golden colour with the red work well with the contrasting warp perched on the ledge. The red "wall" is even reflected in the antenna.

Excellent macro work, Howard. Terrific detail in the YJ's face, eyes, and jaws. Same nice warm bg. :toast:
