Uganda Kob

One of the three subspecies of Kob, now thankfully plentiful, but nowhere as many as the White Eared Kob of South Sudan migration fame. As I do not have a helicopter I will be unlikely to see this, but you never know. Taken in Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda.

A new species for me Ken, Methinks it looks very similar to a Lechwe.
Nice exposure and I like the second kob in the BG

Martin,
You are correct in your identification, the Kob is a member of the Reduncini tribe, which also includes Reedbuck, Puku, Waterbuck and Lechwe

Ken,

This is very nice. The Kob is very sharp. In fact, in the large version, you can easily see lots of flies around the head. I am torn concerning the second Kob in the background. While it doesn't detract too much, I think the image would be even better without it. You have been posting some great images lately. Keep em coming.

Very strong image of this subspecies of Kob. I like the look on this guy as he is walking along. Also not sure about the Kob in the BG. I would like to see this image with that Kob cloned out.

The presence of the FG Kob is stunning. It just seems so real, almost 3D. A very selective DOF as it seems nothing but the Kob is in focus. Nice color palette but saturation seems high even though I've never been anywhere near that part of the world, so forgive me if I'm off base on that.

Thanks everybody for your comments, I have to admit that the question of the background Kob puzzled me, I actually did two versions, but chose this one. The saturation is caused by the sun rising behind us giving a nice glow. :toast: :toast:

Sweet image and great pose. Put me in the camp wishing the background individual had chosen to be outside the frame!
