Captured this Robin early this morning out in my backyard in Virginia. Finally got a shot of one with a clean background. The background is natural.
Canon 7D, 100-400L @ 235mm, 1/400sec, f/5.6, iso640 and cropped away about 770% of image for this composition.
C&C welcome

Nice pose and exposure. I'm guessing you meant 77%, not 770% At any rate, the large crop is evident is decreased image quality. The plumage detail has been compromised.

Nice composition as posted, David. The bg is super. It does look to me as if your focus may have been on the seed head or the breast of the bird as the face looks just a trifle soft in the larger version. You might want to do a little selective sharpening of that part of the image.

David, this is an uncommon portrait of a common, yet beautiful, species. The fade from a brownish to a light green BG on the bottom adds a nice touch. It all looks good to me.

I like the pose, perch and comp but I agree the IQ/sharpness is lacking.

Hi David :wavey: here in canada , we always see robins on the ground pulling out worms. this is a different pose from what we usually see. it's beautifully composed with excellent detail and color :toast:

David, I like your composition with the diagonal and interesting perch, clean two-toned background and the pose. Thanks for posting, Dave
