Hey everyone! These are the same owls from my previous post, but a closeup of them. My dad and I went out a couple weeks ago to see the if the young great horned owls were still living in the old granary. Luckily, they were! I decided I wanted to try doing some video of them. While I was shooting video I saw a moment I needed to capture in an image. Luckily, I can take a picture while shooting video, so I took a few pictures without interrupting my video (I wanted the moment in both formats). However, because I was shooting video while I captured this, the image is much more narrow than the traditional horizontal.

I hope you like it!

Thanks for lookin'! :wavey:

Interesting take on these two. I like the overall concept. There are two things that are unfortunate. The light on the Owl on the right is shadowed and makes it tougher to see.
I'm also very sensitive to shapes. The upper left corner forms a triangle pointing out of the image. There doesn't appear to be a crop that could help with that problem without cropping to a nearly square format. That crop removes too much information from the overall scene in my opinion. I still like the series you've done on these guys with a different twist.

I like this image Jenaya. I like the color and textures of the old weathered granary. Its unfortunate the owl on the right was in the shadows. Maybe you could clone him out and have just one prominent owl?

Excellent composition, Jenaya. I love the light and the textures in the old granary. The owls add a nice focal point to the image.

I like this shot very much. For one thing GHOs are my favorite bird and the textures of the old barn wood, the colors and the sweet light work well. The owl in the shadow is pretty minor for me. The only very small thing that bothers me about this shot is that it looks kind of cock-eyed because of all the weird angles of the straight lines. Some of the horizontals are level and some are not and all the verticals slant a bit to the right and since this is an old decaying barn I'm sure you couldn't do much about it. Over all excellent.

Good for you that you had the chance of taking this shot ! I like the overall atmosphere, composition wise Keith made some interesting remarks that are worth considering for a future shooting. That said, I like it already a lot as posted and wish it were mine  , Cheers, Hans
