Grove of the Ancients

This is a location within the Olympic National Park that is usually only known by the locals, but has some nice fall colors and moss.

This is actually a ~25% crop of a gigantic panoramic stitch, which can be viewed if you click on the larger version. One of the biggest problems with the internet is that large panoramic photos never look as good as they should due to the limited size and resolution of computer screens. The original image is over 30,000 pixels wide. :jump:

This image took an insane amount of JPG compression to fit the upload size, so hopefully it wasn't too brutal.

Canon 5D2
Canon 70-200 F4 IS @200mm

Thanks for looking! :wavey:

There are many ways to crop this into other photos, which can be fun.

The pano has my vote Johan, and I agree with you about the pano issue. This looks scene looks good big where you can explore the details.

Very nice. I prefer the vertical crop because the layers in it build so well upon each other. Nice in all versions, though

I like all versions, but particularly the original cropped version. I like the close up detail in the hanging moss and the way the frame is filled with moss and maple leaves. Outstanding image. :toast:

Love the moss in this version Johan, but that larger photo is true eye candy!

Thanks for giving feedback! Too bad you guys can't see a large print of this. Well... for $700 + shipping, you could, I guess.
