A substantial slab of rock finds itself currently resting near Kitchen Creek.

As a long-time skulker at NPN occasionally making comments, this is my first post. I will try to comment more.

RAW file processed in LR5, TK resize/sharpening for web.
Canon T3i, 1/10 s, f/8, ISO 400, EF-S 10-22 mm @ 13 mm, CPL

Seeking any and all advice and comments. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to NPN Ronald and a very nice first post. Exposure for the water looks good and very natural processing. Look forward to seeing more of your images in the future. Well done.

The processing is very natural and the stream is a lovely little jewel. I personally would have liked a bit more fg to separate the large rock from the bottom border and I think a vertical composition would also be wonderful. It's very nice as is with the fall foliage lighting up the bg and the drifts of leaves piled on the rocks. Welcome to NPN.

Hi Ronald, welcome to NPN. This is an interesting view with three fine elements, the rock slab, the warm fall colors above it, and the small falls. It seems to me that two of your elements (the rock and the stream) are competing for attention rather than coordinating. This is a common problem that I regularly struggle with. I like to state it as "what story is this image telling?" Because of how close the stream is to the slab, it looks to be very challenging to make an image that's focused on the slab...maybe a vertical view from further left.

Very nice first post! ... and terrific post-to-comment ratio; keep up the good work as you post more often.

VERY interesting scene with that huge rock. I do find the composition pleasing, even though it's hard to decide whether to look at the rock or that pretty little cascade. Speaking of the falls, I like the way your shutter speed shows us the motion without losing the details in the water. One of the most natural-looking fall images I have seen, keeping the contrast and colors as subtle as we would expect on an overcast day.

Love your composition and the very natural look to your processing. Not having ever been to this place, for some reason your image really evokes a sense of the eastern woodlands to me. A beautiful image and an excellent first post. Hope you post more of your work.
