With no frost yet this year, I went back to last year's files and found this fall Blackberry leaf with a nice rim of frost. This is an 11 shot stack for edge to edge sharpness across the leaf. (5D3, 100mm macro L, f/8, 1/15s, iso 200, tripod and cable release)

Mark, this works very nicely for the new WC theme. For me it's the actual composition and placement of the capture that makes it work so well. The diagonal view of the leaf and the small amount of branch with attachment stem makes a complete visual composition IMO.
I might try to darken or burn down some of the BG in certain spots, but, totally subjective thoughts there.
Works very well for me.....

Great close-up shot of this frost edged leaf, Mark. Love the rich shades of red in this leaf and how the frost is aligned so nicely along all the edges. The hole adds some extra interest too IMO. I like the diagonal comp of the leaf and view of the stem attached to the branch. Good OOF background with nice contrasting colors to help set off the leaf.

I love the light and the different colors of red and the delicate rim of frost.

Paul, I use Tony Kuyper's masks and method for dodging and burning and had burned those bright background leaves as much as that approach would allow. After your comment, I went back and decided to try a second burn/dodge layer. Lo and behold, it worked nicely. Here's the result.

:toast: Much improved, Mark. I feel it helps keep focus upfront on the main subject, the leaf.

Mark, This is really nice! The frosted edges of the blackberry leaf looks fantastic. I like your repost with the highlights toned down in the background, but it looks like the leaf lost some of it's wonderful color. Maybe the new background with the beautiful color of the original leaf. Nice work Mark.
