Toque macaques

In Sri Lanka we did a couple of whole day safaris. At the lunch spot near a river, a group of these Toque macaques had made a habit of stealing food from the jeeps and even out of your hands. We had to have our eyes everywhere and eat our sandwiches very quickly.
These macaques are endemic to Sri Lanka. Yala NP.

Ellen,
Not exactly the prettiest monkey I have seen, in fact the youngsters eyes are quite scary.
Nevertheless a fine capture :toast: :toast:

This is a good full body portrait type pose. Detail on the youngster is especially nice. I wonder if the level of saturation is a little high?

Very nice and engaging portrait Ellen. The detail is superb and the exposure control is really well done despite the patchy light conditions. Did you use fill flash here?

Thanks for your nice comments! @Vincent: I didn't use flash, but did some post-processing in Lightroom to lighten the shadows and downtone the highlights. :wavey:
