To celebrate our booking another trip to Ruaha (our 5th) next February. Here is an image from our last trip. The Lion cubs are enjoying a late night play, before bedtime.

I'm envious, as I think Ruaha is possibly the best park in Africa. However, in my experience all the lions do there is sleep, so to catch these two playing is great. I do think, however, that there is wasted space at the top and that the shot may work better as a letterbox crop.

I really like the subtle lighting in this shot and think it enhances the playful mood of the cubs. I also agree with David that a pano crop would further strengthen this image.

They provide a nice compositional arrangement/shape. They seem really small, so I assume the mom is nearby. A lower perspective would have been really cool.

Thanks everybody, I agree entirely that this should have been more letterbox.
David,
Ruaha is certainly amongst my favourites, lets hope it remains quiet
Lon,
A lower perspective would have been difficult as we were on the banks of the river, and I was certainly not going to get out of the vehicle

Lovely moment in nice soft light Ken. Do you fly up to Ruaha or drive up in the Cruiser?
I would crop to pano from the top here...

Morkel,

It is a bit far to drive
We limit car transport to South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Botswana, anything to avoid O R Tambo
