Late morning light filters into Oneonta Gorge, Oregon.
I've seen plenty of pictures of this place, so I was excited to actually see it in person, because it is a really awesome place. I had heard of the 'log jam' but was quite surprised out how massive it was when I came upon it. The power of water is sometimes really impressive. Literally, hundreds of huge tree trunks just stacked up, stuck at the end of this gorge. Pretty sketchy to climb over, and I've seen shots from here from earlier in the season when the water level is really high. That seems like a super dangerous thing to do. Slip, fall, get sucked down and stuck underwater in a web of logs... that would suck! I imagine people die there occasionally?
Anyway, I really enjoyed how the water was rippling in the foreground, and how the calmer pool in the foreground was reflecting the awesome light coming down further up the gorge. I can hear the trickling water, and the echoing of our voices off the massive gorge walls. I'd really like to be there right now!

No go on the crop, Paul, that foreground reflection of the light makes the image, for me. Sorry to hear about that kid. It is definitely not very safe going over that.
