Crater Lake Sum Morning

This was taking this summer on a road trip through the coast. Very interested in your thoughts on this photo, I worked on this photo for a while but I am not sure how I feel about it. Any comment on the comp and processing is appreciated.

Learning from my previous posts, the image was cropped in leaving portion of the lake out to keep some of the mystery.
Thank you,

Great light, I might have turned the camera slightly to the right to lose the large rocks in the left foreground. A tad contrast/darkening of the foreground could make it pop better

Thank you Chet!

Thanks for your suggestion Kartik. Here is a version with darker foreground, added contrasted, removed some red and added a little blue. Too much?

Love this Zhoen. The foreground doesn't quite hold up to the rest of the image, but it's truly lovely overall. I prefer the original.

Beautiful scene Zhoen with very nice colors. I like the first one the best as it seems very natural looking. Nice job on this.

Nice color and light, and I like the juxtaposition of the sunstar and Wizard's Island. They make for good interplay for the eyes.

I prefer the original post, Zhoen. The sunstar is spectacular as is the warmth in the clouds and the lake. Did you happen to take any images with the whole lake included? I would be curious for comparison.

Killer image!!!!

When I saw the first I thought darker mid tones and graduated slight lowering of luminance in the top and bottom.

Either way great.

The color and scenery are nice along with the processing. I'm not liking the foreground much as it isn't very interesting. I know some of those lookout spots can be pretty sketchy near the edge though, so I can understand not getting too far out over the edge.

Did you climb one of the peaks? Wizard Island looks like you are higher above it than I was when I took a similar photo earlier this year.

Thanks for sharing, Zhoen! :toast:

Thanks Mark, I will sure try out your suggestions.

Johan, it was only a fence that I climbed over  , I got as close to the edge as possible, then point my camera down at a low perspective.
