Marsh Frosting

I pass this salt grass marsh nearly every day. It was a matter of waiting for just the right morning, and letting the light do it's thing. A larger view of the marsh to follow at some point. Lost in this size image are the thousands of perfect dew drops from the melted frost, and the still icy crystals awaiting their demise

5D MarkII, 24-105L, f16. Several focal slices merged to capture all of those dew drops.

Probably have to view larger to appreciate this image. I enjoy the lines leading in from the lower corners and that lone leave.

Very nice image, Harry. The frosted grass with the dappled light and shadow is wonderful, and the leaf is a solid anchor for the composition. I like the way the patterns in the grass flow through the scene and toward the lower RHC, which certainly makes the composition more dynamic.

Harry, I think you did a really nice job working out the composition for this shot. The color and light looks great, and you have some amazing detail and textures. I could see maybe doing just a slight crop of the top edge to eliminate the bright sliver of light, but that is being pretty picky I guess. Very nice work. :toast:

Beautiful, Harry. I love the tension that one leaf creates in the image.

I like this, Harry. The wave like ridges of grass are quietly dynamic and of couse the one leaf is a nice touch. Well done. Chet

The waves of grass, heavy frost, and that one special leaf work wonderfully here. Excellent job of seeing and capturing.

Cool! I like a vertical of the rhs too--gives more attention to the coolest part of the photo. :wavey:

Thanks for the comments - Nick I do agree and have been going back and forth on the same idea. I was hoping to avoid eliminating any of the shaded waves near the top, but it might be for the best. I will try darkening that area 1st and see how that looks compared to cropping.

Thanks

:toast: Very nice find here, Harry. I really enjoy captures such as this that are, lets just say, a bit out of the norm for us landscape photogs. The minimal characters, the single leaf, amongst the vast salt grass area is just excellent.

I love the light and the implied motion, Harry. That red leaf is perfectly positioned and provides a great anchor to the scene. The large version is a real treat.

Very nice textures and detail. I like the one red leaf as an anchor, too. And, the interplay of light across the grasses adds to the appeal. Well done.

p.s. I should really read the comments first as Ed covered that aspect of the leaf.
