Sharks Fin Sunrise
by Ian Cameron
Quiraing, Skye, Scotland
The armoured plate along the spine of a Stegosaurus, a sharks fin, whatever you want to call it these geological formations make a wonderful ampitheatre for the rising sun to play with. this was one of the very finest sunrises I can recall on the Quiraing and I have seen quite a few. A 40 minute walk brings you out opposite this feature and I arrived in time to watch the sky turn a sumptuous plum, followed by a pink sunrise.
By the way if anyone is wondering why Man and Nature, that is a little cemetery down at the foot of the escarpment. A pretty good spot to have as your final resting place.

One comment, i see that you keep choosing this spot a lot, i think i saw this location many times with different conditions, and same with your MF camera and same film Velvia 50, did you shoot this place about 1000 times maybe? I know all your shots are amazing decent great for sure, i think i will do the same and post my others shots of that lighthouse i did but from different angles, and it was amazing in just about 1 hour and so with you there i've got different look, but i think i chose only one shot i see it as my best.
Lucky you to be there and you can move around, when do you think you will move to digital cameras completely?
Its a good vantage point too but the little road does come into view again which is presently neatly hidden behind the sharks fin. basically Scotland has a "right to roam" law which means save for some fairly minor restrictions you can access just about anywhere.
Quite an amazing image -
congrats on a wonderful WP!
