Panther Creek [+edit]

Last weekend I visited Panther Creek Falls for the first time. It's a beauty. Easy to access the standard viewpoint, more challenging to get a different perspective. Since I was alone, with no one to toss down painkillers if I fell, I chose to shoot from the deck.

I liked this tree hanging on to edge. I'll post the full view of the falls below; you can see the tree on the right hand side.

Excellent image and I love how the tree in the foreground almost glows neon against the rich colors. The only change I would make is to boost the whites of the water as it's a bit muddled

This is a great falls.
You need a lot of color correction of the water for me.
I would reprocess and remove the red/blue cast.

Curses. I process in PS with a 50% gray background, and forgot to check it with a white background. Nice catch Luke; here's a corrected version.

Does that fix the casts enough Dan? (The balance should be correct? I shot a white card to balance with.)

John, Wow, This is very, very nice. Your repost version looks Fantastic to my eye. What a beautiful scene with this wonderful looking falls. I love that foreground tree and placement in the frame. The full view is also very nice but the posted version fantastic! Beautiful work John! :toast:

Looks better John, the water in the crop you choose is so transparent that it does pick up color from the rocks behind, but the solid flow in the RCH looks white to me.
I have seen a photo from the bottom of the canyon which is spectacular, but you either need to rope up and rappel to get there or
bushwack 3 miles up the creek.
I have been tempted.
I like the full view you posted a lot.

I'm glad to see you finally made it out to Panther Creek John. This waterfall is incredibly complex, but it's one of my favorites in the area. I prefer the wider view since it includes the nice yellow tree at the bottom of the frame. I like the telephoto view, but I wish the color in the tree was a bit more yellow.

You have a special talent for finding these types of comps, John. And, then your pp takes them to a whole other level. Superb images.

Beautifully done images John. I like them both but maybe the full view better just because the colors pop more. Nice PP and very well seen.

This the light and water exposure give this a very painterly effect John. The water also has a beautiful silky texture which I like very much.

Gorgeous John! Of the two, I think a prefer the full view a little more than the original but both are superb. Perfect shutter speed and wonderful compositions. Doesn't get any better than this.

No pain, no gain...
I like the full view MUCH more here. The first post is nice, but for me the tree kind of competes with the falls, it's like two seperate subjects, the full view feels more integrated.

Both are beauties John, but my favorite is the wide view. It gives me a better sense of the place and that yellow tree at the bottom is very eye catching. You can't lose with either one.
