The Hills Have Eyes

This is an image I shot back in April during my short trip to the Alabama hills. While waiting for sunset at the famous mobius arch, I kept looking for anything interesting to shoot. I decided to switch my lens and scan around using the telephoto. After the sun had cleared from the low clouds it began to light up the mountains opposite of mount whitney and made a nice layering between the alabama hills, the mountain, and sky. I didn't notice until recently processing the image that there are a few arches visible towards the bottom. Looking back now I wish I would have seen them to go shoot them during the trip! As always, comments and critiques are greatly appreciated.

Beautiful late-light Peter. I love how the layers stack up.

Pretty nice color combinations here, Peter. It's also interesting how the foreground formation lines up nicely with the shadow creeping up the mountain.

I was too tired to comment on this when I saw it last night, Peter, so I'm making up for lost time.

I like the exquisite light here with the warm tones sandwiched between the cooler tones. I also like the framing of the foreground rock formation against the background mountain. I don't see the arches at this small size but either way this is very nicely done. I'm surprised there aren't more comments.

Thanks everyone!

Brian, I have a knack for not posting larger versions, and this one shines really well when big. The most noticeable arch in the image is on the bottom left of the tall rock spires.

A good alignment of the tones in this, and the color and light are especially nice, too. Well done.
