Taken recently near my home. BG is deep shade under trees.

Nikon D300; 400mm; f 6.3@ 1/1250th; ISO 400; HH; approx. 50% crop.

All comments and suggestions most welcome - I can't decide about the composition - the curved stem...

Terrific photo of the moth, Tom. Wings are getting tattered so it may be near the end of it's cycle and probably appropriate for the season. Beautiful colors and nice detail in the moth. For me, the curved green stem distracts my eye so I would vote to crop it out.

I have never been able to get a good image of this beautiful moth. My taste would be to crop & clone out the curved stem & I would also try a crop on the left to emphasize the moth as main focus. Excellent light & color.

Nice catch, tom. I might try to reduce the highlights a trifle, and I think I'd go with removing the curved stem.

Nice clean look at this Hummingbird moth doing its thing, Tom. I rarely even see these let alone get a photo of one. This one shows very nicely against he dark bg. The bee balm adds nice color. I'm one more vote to make the green stem go away.
