Warm Embrace

A final image from my recent Great Gulf Wilderness series from the slopes of Mt. Washington. A much warmer looking anyway, and relatively cozier image than the cooler early morning shots posted. I waited for the light to graze the tops of the sedges to try and set them off from the surroundings. I stitched 2 horizontal images to be able to include the clouds & FG detail. Each image was processed x 2 for DR.

5D2, 17-40L, f11, ISO 800, 1/20 sec.

Great colours, depth, composition and light in this, like it a lot.

This works very well for me. I especially like the backlit grasses, and clouds pointing towards the soft light in the bg. Great shot :toast:

Harry, a wonderful scene. Well captured and processed all around too. I might be tempted to clone the white boulder? out in the valley area. Not sure why but that was an immediate draw for me. Otherwise, a spot on image.

EDIT: I see what your talking about Harry, if so excuse my thought on that item then. A gorgeous scene....

Paul - I think you might be referring to Spaulding Lake, though it does kinda look like a rock. There are a lot of rock out there, so maybe you are seeing a different rock. Nothing else stands out, so I figured it must be the lake.

Love that warm light and the back lit mist in the far distance really adds to the expansive mood of your image.

Harry, definitely my favourite from your series for the backlit grasses, beautiful light, clouds and the fog (?) on the hills in the distance

This certainly is a grand view, Harry. The clouds in the sky compliment the warm light creeping across the mountains rather nicely and the details in the FG come across beautifully in the large version. Beautiful image.
