Been trying to get decent shot of these white butterflies, but they are so quick I have not been to successful. This one land in these plants, but only a bit of wing showed, then it moved into this position and I was able to get a photo.

Canon PS SX50
1/250 @ F-7.1 ISO400
Canon 4.3-215 @ 215mm

Hi John,
This is a really good shot of the cabbage white, a European invader that has become one of the most common butterflies in North America.
The bright, but even light worked well to show us the beautiful details in the eyes, proboscis and antennae. Small-sensor cameras like the SX50 are wonderful tools (with the right light, to avoid noise and dynamic range problems) for getting enough depth-of-field for a shot like this.

Nice capture! I know what you mean about them being fast! They flutter around very quickly and I seldom see them land. Good detail and I like the pose.

Really good look at this BF, John. Nice and sharp in the head, eyes, and antennae. I especially like the eye detail.
