Above the Fog
by Brad Strong
I took this last year. I also took some wide angle shots that turned out quite well. This was shot with my 200mm Prime. It never worked as a color image for me, so I decided to try B&W. B&W isn't normally my thing, but I like this pretty well.
All comments welcome, especially about the look, feel, and processing. The resampled JPEGs aren't doing it any favors. It looks better in LR.
Single Raw image, LR5 only.
Thanks for looking.

6 commentsThis is wonderful! I guess saying this has great layers would be stating the obvious.... but these layered images of fog, trees and ridge lines takes this beyond the classic layered look.
Processing looks fine to me; nice contrast and range of tones. I wouldn't call this a nit, but I'm just wondering if there is any more room up top? Not that I need to see more blank sky, but for me it's framed just to the point where I either want to see a skosh more for breathing room or cropped entirely - but not sure that's a better option. Just a thought.

Lon, There isn't any more room at the top. I shot it with minimal sky. The sky was flat, so I skipped it in favor of more foggy mountains. I tried cropping a bit, but I think it crowds the top of the last peaks too much. Those last little ridge lines at the top add that last into infinity feel.
