Pyramid Lake is but one of many beautiful lakes in the Canadian Rockies. That morning the water was perfectly still making for some great reflections in the water.

Canon 60D. 18mm at F/18 for 1/10 sec. ISO 200. Handheld, natural lighting.

Wonderful reflective scene, Carolyn. Truly gorgeous colors here. I do like the inclusion of the small FG area on this capture too. Seems just about right with that amount and appears nothing was lost in the overall frame all around. Nice work.

Incredible reflection! I like the comp as well... Not sure how you edited this, but, IMO, the blacks are a hair strong. Almost as if in the 'Levels' editing box, the left slider was brought a touch too far to the right. (OK, if that wasn't all that clear, I apologize! ). Anyhow, nice job capturing this amazing scene. The large version is a ton of fun to view...

Thanks all for your comments. Truly was a breathtaking scene to behold!

Nathan, I do a combo of Photoshop Elements and Nik software for editing. I did various versions of this image. . brighter or darker, more or less saturated, more or less shadows. . .but this one finally felt "right", as the scene appeared to me in person. I appreciate your input!

Simply beautiful, and well processed. I would try to tone down the brightest part of the mountain range and sky just a tad. Curious as to how you traveled to Canada. Road trip from PA, fly & rent a car...?

Michael, thanks for your comments. We flew into Vancouver, took a 2-day trip by train to Jasper, rented a car in Jasper and drove down through Banff, and then over to Calgary where we flew home from. Fantastic trip! I want to go back sometime if possible.

Carolyn,

What a beautiful mountain landscape and killer reflection. I like to call these reflectionscapes. Excellent composition as I like the offsetting rocks up front.

The only suggestion I have is along the lines of Paul's comments on the shadows, but I would add that the shadow areas are pretty blue - especially up on the mountain. What's interesting is the shadow areas in the reflection aren't as blue - despite the overall blue in the water with the reflected. Anyway, a couple color tweak and this will be awesome.

As already has been noted, the reflection and comp are truly beautiful. The tone difference between the mountain and its reflection are perfect. I've seen too many images where the difference is unnaturally close. Nicely done.

Again, I appreciate your comments! Lon, after studying this more, I agree with you about the blue shading. The shadows in the mountain are more blue than their reflections, which isn't realistic. So I tried re-editing to tone down the blue shadows. Is this repost better?

I agree with Lon's statement. This image has a lot of potential.

Edit: I just saw the repost--don't know how I missed it. Looks much better.
