Hummingbird

I don't get a lot of hummers where I live, it was just sheer luck when this bird flew by and I did not have time to make the changes. This was taken a few days ago when I was looking to get a shot of another bird at the Scarborough Bluffs. My camera settings were off, I took the shot and made the edits in Adobe Photoshop. The original image has a dead branch where the bird was inspecting, I took the branch out and blended the background with color. Natural light on the bird photographed at sunrise. Handheld with a mono-pod.

Your light must have been pretty dim considering the outcome here. Maybe a little more ISO might have helped (your camera is probably pretty good for that) and maybe a little slower shutter speed. You got a nice pose. Another idea might be to use a bit of flash from your camera. Can't remember if the 6D has an on board pop up or not.

John, like the position you caught this hummer in, but for me it is too dark. Maybe you could lighten the entire image just a bit. Hummers are fun to photograph. Thanks for sharing.

Nice and due to the darkness almost artistic shot. To me it appeals, as I like dark image often. Congrats !Hans

An interesting concept but it doesn't work for me. I think it needed to be brighter (without losing the dark background). There's also the melted look from excessive nose reduction where there should be feather detail.

Great shot, I like the inquisitive look he/she has.
