Well, for a variety of reasons it's been a long while since I've posted images at NPN, but I've decided to be more active.
I have quite a few images from the recent past, along with some older ones that have been reworked.

So, here's the first one. This is a detail of sand tufa. These odd formations form under water at Mono Lake. Now high and dry at Navy beach, I found this one.

Please see large version.

Comments and critiques are always appreciated.

Sweet shot, Preston. The detail is awesome, and there is a very nice, symmetrical form you found here. It feels like you had some time for quiet study of these geologic formations. They certainly are dramatic. Thank you for your recommendations for my trip, they helped me a lot

Preston, I totally agree with Navin's thoughts on this. A really well thought out comp and jusy amazing detail. You really need to look at the larger version to get the full effect here! Really well done.

Excellent closeup view on one of these very unique structures, Preston. Lots of detail to take in overall. As we know how these are formed it's still amazing to me how heavy & just how hard they really are too.

brilliant, preston. love the flow, forms and textures. as you might guess, i would have done this in b&w but the flecks of colour do add. look forward to seeing more of your work!

Wonderful shapes, lines and colors. This is a fine image from Mono Lake, not an easy thing to do.

Hey Preston, great to see a post from you! Welcome back!

You know I really like this one. I like the near or apparent symmetry here. the color, texture and detail are all wonderful! Great job filling the frame as well. What's fascinating to is the lack of scale - leaving it up to the imagination as to the size here.

No nits or suggestions from me. Excellent.

Love it Preston! The photo is very striking. It looks very archaic and the title fits this perfectly.

Excellent Preston. I've seen pics of these but never a close-up. I'm so glad you left this in color - those subtle hints make a world of difference.

The details in the formation are great and I also like the symmetry and the subtle lighting.
