Seems a bit dark on my monitor. Excellent profile shot. I like the "fade into focus" flowers leading to the subject. Excellent technique.

Nice exposure and bg. I find the oof fg a little distracting, but it does help place emphasis on the bird and I like the diagonal line formed with the whites. Sharon

Pretty puffin in a neat setting. You were likely set for flying birds with your 1/5000 / 7.1, but a greater depth of field would have allowed more of those great flowers in focus.
Still, quite nice as is.

I like the diagonal composition with the bird sticking out. And the contrast in colors and textures..

I like the comp and it's a great profile POV Keith.
I've been using the same cam body for six years now..
But very much remember what that "learning curve" was like

Keith,
Is a wonderful, poignant shot! Having just returned from Maine where could only see Puffins taking a tour boat where we saw few birds and my shots were around the bobbing heads of tourists who could not remain seated, I really appreciate this close up. Another NPNer is trying to convince me to go to Iceland in June, and Macias Island off the Northern Maine coast is a nesting site where it is possible to get on the island with a naturalist. To say I envy your opportunity to photograph these beautiful birds is an understatement. This is simply a stunning shot! :toast:
