I was graced with a Cooper's Hawk 'close encounter' earlier this week. Up close there's a very impressive air of dignity, power, & beauty.
Near full frame at F/7.1, 1/2000th, ISO 500, 1D M3, 300mm f/2.8 + 1.4x ext. Clear/sunny at 10:03am with light from above & the side.

Howard, looks like you got him to pose in a studio. The light is stupendous. I see that it is full-frame, but I think that a tiny bit more room all around, but especially on the left & top would have been perfection.

They do hold themselves in a very majestic manner. The background is just perfect to show off the beauty of this bird. The light on the side of his face and breast really shows off the beautiful feathers.
