Canon7D,Canon70-300lens @ 300mm,ISO500,f7.1. Afternoon sun.Approx 70% 0f original, crop top & both sides.
Dragonflies were the only animals with which I have had luck this summer. For the first time I was able to shoot interaction between different species, mostly 2 species but also a few 3 species shots. Blue dasher & Eastern Pondhawk.

Outstanding, Roger. You really nailed this one. Excellent detail in both DFs, and a beautiful bg. Only nit is the clipped wings at the bottom, but this is nevertheless exceptional, IMO. :toast:

Roger - I dont know how you do this time and again !. To be able to freeze these things in flight itself is a huge accomplishment. Clipped wing is a small price to pay. This is outstanding in my opinion.

I answered your question on my Damselfly post in my post itself.

Marvellously captured, Roger ! Would be interested to know what your shutter speed was for this shot. The detail and colours are eye catching in the extreme.

Thanks, everyone. Ian, my range of speeds is 1/1600 - 1/3200sec depending on light. I try not to change aperture, but may close it up to f9 in very bright sunlight.

Excellent capture, Roger! I especially like the pose of the lower df and the slight motion blur of the wings on the upper df. Beautiful color, detail, and bg.

Had to be a fast shutter speed and quick hands. Marvelous!

Amazing shot. Two dragonflies in one frame, and one of them is flying! Fantastic.
