Turk's Cap Lily

Almost an annual habit - grows at the same place every year. I have to shoot at least one of these blooms.

This bloom is past its prime as can be seen from the degrading stamens. There were fresher ones but this background was not possible (a man made structure was behind it). Some kind of a compromise in the end. If I had fresher specimen instead, the stamens would not have overlapped either.

ND300s, AFD200mm F/4 Micronikkor @ F/16, 1/60 Sec, ISO400 and Tripod.

Thanks a lot for your comments on Grass Seedhead and let me know if this appeals to you or not.

Appeals to me just fine, Ram. Beautiful. I would not have known or guessed that this bloom is past its prime as the petals look in perfect condition. Great job isolating this bloom from the smooth green bg. :toast:

Excellent dof and great color. Nice background, but I would clone in green where the other colors are at the bottom. Beautiful image.

Beautiful flower and excellent bg. It may be a little past it's prime but the petals still look perfect and beautiful.

Beautiful look at one of my favorite wildflowers. The soft green background is a great complement to the flower. It's getting really hard to find these around here.

Ram: Striking subject and a perfectly executed capture. The advanced stage of the stamens is a non-issue for me. Really well done. >=))>

Gorgeous, Ram ! Crystal clarity of presentation and a composition which brings out the rhythms of the flower head and stamens. Like the variegated bg too.

Ram, here is a mountain lily that we call 'Giglio Martagone'. You have made a splendid photo of a splendid flower. I appreciate very much the almost pastel colors and the control of the reflections always present in this flower.
Take care.
