The Sweep of Light

Lencois Maranhenses Sand Dunes, Brazil.

Beautiful light accents the sweep of dunes. The play of equatorial light and shadow filtering through the late afternoon clouds create some of the most surreal scenes on the planet.

It's a bit of a second tier image from this location, but I thought I would share it anyway since I love this place so much! Thanks for looking.

I tried a lower perspective, but it cut too much of the lake out and ruined the flow of the scene. I had to work really fast to get this one. I didn't even have time to fully open the legs of my tripod before I felt the light would be off the top of the dune- I shot it with the tripod as a monopod.

Love the interplay of light and shadows Mike. The ominous, inky sky also adds a lot of mood to the scene.

Very nice Mike. I agree the light, shadows and shapes here are really interesting and very nice. I very much like what the dark clouds and sky add to this image.

Wonderful interplay of the light and shadows Mike. Very nice textures in the foreground and moody sky. Seems like a great place to visit. Nicely done.

Beautiful light. the sinuous shapes are most appealing. This is quite nice

Not the wow factor as other images you have from here for sure, but still a gorgeous photo with the emphasis on the texture and color of that great sand there. The colors work in perfect harmony here, too.

With light like this, I don't see how it could be second tier. But, I do like your other comps/scene and circumstances better.

The different shapes of the highlights in upper portion on the dunes makes this for me. :wavey:
This could be a great pano cropped just below the water.
