A single stem of the wild Jacob's ladder flowers that bloom in my flower beds in the spring.

One thing I have learned as being part of NPN is the importance of the background and how it can add or detract from the main subject. Your choice of background here really helps to either compliment or contrast the flower. A very pretty image. And your choice of a "ladder" is the perfect one for a vertical theme.

Light and cheery. Good placement in the frame. Excellent separation between subject and background. The light is soft, yet warm. Pretty indeed.

What a lovely, gentle, flower, where the tall frame emphasizes the growth habit. You've created a great feeling of warmth, here.

The frame color caught my eye; nice choice there. Nicely composed with a beautiful, soft background, and I like that it varies a bit, so adds interest and shows off the main subject better. Also like the stem coming from the LR corner diagonally up with just enough room above the flower. Lovely...

Allen makes a very important point here with his comment. Although the backgrounds in all images are important, they are extremely noticeable and can be out of place if done wrong in close up images such as this capture.

In this case the soft colored background and the chosen short DOF makes the image work perfectly. Excellent detail Carolyn as seen here in the standard size image.
