Bue-eyed grass

Another photo of my Blue-eyed grass when in bloom. The sun was shining through the grass stems in the background and I liked the effect of the background best at this aperture. I tried to keep the yellow centers of the flowers in focus and let the rest blur. Does this work to have the flowers this blurred? I guess this would have been a good candidate for focus stacking. . .which I have yet to do.

Canon 60D. 90mm macro lens. F/3.2 for 1/60 sec. ISO 200. Tripod mounted, natural lighting.

Very colorful beauties, Carolyn. I think your choice of aperture works pretty well, but I believe that it would work better if you were to set up at a slightly higher angle and a bit to the right, more at right angles to the blooms, this would allow all three to be in the plane of focus.

Great curved composition, and I like the softness of this. Great work.

I think there's enough in focus for this to be just fine! Love the comp and background. Beautifully done!

I love the border to bring out the color of the flowers. The aperture works for me as it creates a lovely mix of tones, color, and lines to compliment the flowers. A fine comp and capture. Lovely.

This is pleasing to my eyes - I like how you balanced the focus of the flowers against the blurring background.

Carolyn - Terrific background there  - three blooms making an implied curve there also makes for a great composition. I am OK with it as presented but the suggestion to move a bit to the right to align the plane of focus perhaps has some merit too.

I like the shallow DOF, Carolyn. Together wit the color palette, it makes this image very artisty. :toast:
