The sun's rays, breaking through the clouds, add some drama to the sunset scene.

The layers work well here Stan though I might crop the upper potion of the sky to 1:1 or 7X6. Just a personal preference.

The warmth surrounding the berg is really an amazing contrast. Great shot.

A wonderful shot Stan, you did a nice job with the exposure. Some specs posted would be nice and I agree with Eva about the cropping as the thin top band of darker and lighter clouds don't add significantly to make the image any more dramatic. The colors are killer!

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. Appreciate them, for sure.
I was somewhat concerned over the bit of really dark cloud, top left.
Started cropping, as suggested, and found I could almost crop half the frame. (Surprise !!)

Where I was standing, there wasn't enough room for me and a tripod. With the wind blowing I had to reduce the focal length to a point where I could hand hold and still get something reasonably sharp. Have a bit more equipment, now, so a different position, and a longer focal length, might be possible. Now, I'm not saying I'd have seen it that way, even if I had the equipment, lol.

Olympus E-30
50-200 mm lens @ 169 mm (full frame equivalent = 338 mm)
f:5.6
1/125 second
ISO 200
IS on

This was taken on the way to Bear Cove, on the Baie Verte Peninsula, Newfoundland. I can't say this was actually Bear Cove but it was definitely part of White Bay.

Really nice sky and color contrasts. I think if it were mine I might take off about 1/3 from the top. Nice job!

Great moment Stan. I agree with others that upper sky may be a distraction to the sun rays and colorful clouds. :wavey:
!:! crop suggestion.

Love the layers/colors here! I think ideally the top dark portion (in the second version, which is stronger) should be about equal to the area of the sea. :wavey:

Thank ya, kindly, Nick, Rick and Stan, for dropping by and the additional comments.
I sometimes think half the fun with photography is seeing how many more compositions were available, after the fact. :)
