Sunrise Wolf

This female wolf was trying to get at an elk carcass in Yellowstone's Soda Butte Creek right after first light thus the low light scene. I decided to post this image more for the color tones and textures than anything else. Within minutes the sun was up and it was a whole different scene. I'd really like to hear your thoughts on this one.

Brad,
An interesting idea and certainly different, you have certainly captured the tones and textures. I wonder if this would be better in B & W with more contrast, not that I am great B&W fan

The color tones and textures that you wanted to emphasize are very interesting and there is a distinct moodiness. The dark blue area behind the wolf contrasts beautifully with the lighter dominant area. I like the gentle curve along the shoreline. I might have preferred that the wolf was a bit further to the left in the frame, would just feel a bit more balanced to me. The exposure is great and I like the way you captured the water coming off his coat. I do wonder a bit about the exact nature of the lighter area in the foreground. It's art so doesn't really matter I guess, but my little mind keeps asking the question, is it mud? is it frost? snow? Again, interesting and thought provoking photo Brad. :toast:

Unusual and very effective image.
I'd also suggest to try a pure B&W conversion.
I'd also consider a bit off the bottom and bit more at the top.
Fine shot!

I think either of these shots works well but I think I prefer the blue hues of the original image as to me it conveys the mood just a little better.
