I like the colors in this image the flower is very sharp and draws my eye to it, but I always struggle with an image like this with so much negative space. Some ways I like the effect but some ways my eyes get lot in the open area.

The flower stands out nicely and the yellow wash in the lower left adds interest to the negative space. I like this better as a vertical with the bloom near the upper right 1/3 point, for me that emphasizes the gentle vertical flow of the flower and grass stems and keeps just a bit of the yellow wash.

Nice selection of, and exposure of, a most natural environment. :wavey:

I like the look of the buttercup against the beautiful soft bg, Ian. The cross-crossing grasses work for me as well except that I wish the brown grass seed head was less pronounced. Very nice as is, however.

Very nice summer colors in this image, Ian. The buds and OOF blooms provide a nice counterpoint to the buttercup. You might consider cloning out the stalk right behind the flower.

Lovely composition, Ian. I always have difficulty with buttercups-they want to generate hot spots at the least provocation.

Ian - Shooting wild flowers sometimes come with downsides. Like Scott I too feel that without the brown grasshead this would be a superlative and artistic shot. It still is to a large extent.

Your recent postings have been very creative and impressive.
