Here's a shot from our Thailand trip last winter. This is an uncommon species but we usually get it at Huai Kha Keang Wildlife Sanctuary.

Super detail of a striking species. Maybe a bit heavy on the sharpening, with a halo along the bole of the tree and the head and back of the bird.

Beautiful light on this pretty bird with a pleasing comp. I think the sharpening is ok..I even see little ants crawling up the tree under the bird's rump. I'm also seeing a very slight halo. The diagonal tree perch adds to the image. Real nice! Sharon

Thanks Philip and Sharon, I can see the halo now that you mention it, I didn't take the time to selectively sharpen just the bird and perch which would eliminate the halo.

Great colours and great sharpness Nate. Classic woodpecker pose. Well isolated against a background that could have submerged the greens on your bird.
A bit too much tree for my liking perhaps.

Nice capture, I like the fact that all the typical markings of the bird appear in the photo. :toast:

Beautiful, Nate. I love the slanting perch and the upward gaze of the woodpecker.

Stunning image. Nice pose and sharp details. I like how the BG colors match the ones of the bird.
