June 1, 2013 in Poway, CA in Charlie Van Tassel's backyard. Charlie has a family of Roadrunners that are fairly easy to photograph. His yard is like an aviary with a wide variety of species.

Excellent pose and colours! Nice BG, great perch and comp.
A very tiny nit: I'd personally lighten up that dark area on the right leg.
Very sweet image!

I like the setting and perch here Patrick, great job of controlling the hard light too.
Very good DOF and details, I especially the head turn, 'cocked' tail, & raised crest :toast:

I like the bird in the natural habitat. The photo spells desert-like environment and beating sun. Difficult light, I'm sure, but well handled. Nice pose. The composition with that sharp, staring eye in the center works well.

Well exposed in what looks liek tough light Patrick. Love the turqouise tail feather and the challenging expression. Plenty of detail too.

When will the birding tours of Charlie's yard start?

This is one of the juveniles, Patrick. You did good despite the bright sunlight. :toast:

Nice job with the harsh light, Patrick. I like the pose and the iridescence in the tail.

You handled the harsher light well! I haven't met Charlie's pets yet!

Terrific in all aspects. In the wild these are skittish creatures so this capture with the wary eye contact is terrific.. :toast:
