Pensive Eaglet

"That's a long way down!" this about-to-fledge eaglet seemed to be thinking yesterday. On a nest with one other chick, this one finally made the leap and did a quick "lap" around the trees.

Whether by coincidence or on purpose, one of the adults then brought in a large fish... and perched proudly by, as this new flyer got to feast on the meal, while the its sibling was virtually ignored. Behavior?? Coincidence?? Wondering if you folks know. Thanks, I'll see if the larger is worth posting. This is a MAJOR crop as the nest is about 100 yards away from the nearest vantage point. D90, ISO-400, 1/500th to try and keep the eye visible, f-8.0, 500mm, HH. C&C welcomed.

Nice job for hand held at that distance, Bill, but you really should break out the tripod. The smaller version looks pretty good, but the crop and distance are showing up in the larger version.

Bill,
Perhaps it is my screen, but it looks a bit soft. Wonderful sketch on the bright blue sky.
