Inviting Pool

Last week I explored little cascades in a brook flowing steeply though the deep woods. As much as I liked the tumbling waters in the shade, I found myself drawn to this less dramatic, but inviting scene where a wide spot in the brook opened the forest canopy to expose a peaceful little pool to the light. I balanced my fully-extended tripod on three rocks to get the camera high enough for a view of the pool.

Wayne - nice job on this. I didn't notice the pool right away, but the comp does bring my eye up to that spot, then follows nicely down the stream. Shutter speed looks right on for my taste. :toast:

This is a beautiful, and "clean" woodland scene! A rare thing around my area.

Beautiful scene Wayne, and very well photographed. I like the camera height and angle of your composition.

Wayne,

Aside from the babbling brook and perhaps a distant woodpecker, this is such a quiet and tranquil scene. Terrific composition, great color and processing. Just lovely.

I'll take a wild guess and bet that you spent some time in that reflecting pool above? Sure looks like a great place with all kinds of possibilities.

Very sound composition and nice scene Wayne! :toast:

I'm wondering if the top foliage might benefit slightly from less sharpening?

A beautiful scene Wayne! This looks like a very peaceful place and I enjoy the feel. I can just hear the sounds of the water flowing over the rocks. It does look a little over sharpened on my monitor and it is probably from compression too. Nice work Wayne!

This is such a peaceful serene image to me, Wayne. I can almost here the water flowing through this woodland scene. I hope you came away with some shots from that inviting pool as you called it. Nice work.
