This web shot was taken last June (2012)with a Canon Rebel XT, ISO-400, 55mm, f/8, 1/10 sec. No setup time involved. It is about a 50% crop.
Shown in the web are the eggs and remains of the captured prey.
Enjoy...
Thanks,
Don

What an interestingly designed web! I assume the spiral design is supposed to "direct" its prey to the center of the spiral for capture? Also, is that the spider or some prey in the middle? The bright spots in the background are a bit distracting. . .maybe they could be darkened. . .but the background is nicely blurred. Nice find and good entry for the challenge, Don.

Great design in the web. I wish there was more detail and the spider is a bit blown out.

I saw something somewhere once where spiders exposed to marijuana smoke wove really weird webs. Just sayin'. I think the extra webbing gives the spider more traction. This would be a good one for a spirals in nature challenge. I prefer this viewed as an abstract. It does really have a nice illusion of depth. Nice pattern.

Cool web shot! I'm guessing the eggs are the thick zig-zag formations. The prey looks like a large moth; should provide food for all those hatchlings. Parts of the background are a little distracting, but I'm usually in favor of showing it like it was; nature is seldom "perfect" in her presentations.
