White Lady's Slipper

Cypripedium candidum is becoming quite rare as fens become degraded from invasive species or development. Its a fairly difficult flower to photograph as they are usually hidden in heavy grass. The pouch is about an inch in length so they can be overlooked. I photographed this one with my K5 IIs, 300mm f4 set at f8 with 32mm extension.......Jim

Lovely look at this hard-to-find beauty. I like how you've kept the three twisting petals in the frame.

Lots of good detail, Jim, and good light and composition. Really well done to have homed in on this rather extraordinary flower and shot it so well in a doubtless ` messy ' environment.

Lovely capture of this rare beauty, Jim. Very nice comp in this with the angled pose of the flower, the one clear leaf, and the nicely blurred background. Such an intriguing little flower!

Jim - Never to get to see many of these and this specific one, have never seen. I really like the angle you have chosen here which gives the opposing diagonal composition. The three large petals/sepals which are challenging to include in the DOF are well managed.

Gorgeous flower, Jim. I like the composition a lot. I'm not sure how to achieve it (maybe some selective sharpening), but I think it would be cool if the dew on the pouch were emphasized a bit more. Excellent dof and exposure.
